Winnie Lee Combs Thompson was born and raised in Hazard, Kentucky where she attended Elementary and High School. She graduated from The Poro Beauty School and worked as a Beautician in Hazard, Kentucky. Winnie married Elton Thompson in Hazard, and they became the parents of 4 children: Arminta Thompson (who died as a child from an accidental fire in the home) , Barbara Jean Thompson, Elton (Baby Elton), and Anna Belle Thompson. In the 1950's Winnie retired as a beautician for health reasons and Elton retired from work on The railroad, they relocated their family to Dayton Ohio, and joined most of her siblings who migrated to Dayton, OH in the 50s. They purchased a home in the Westwood Neighborhood big enough to accommodate family gatherings and visitors. Winnie was survived by her son Elton Thompson Jr., Anna Belle Thompson Brown, and Barbara Jean(Huey) Thompson. Grandson Lloyd Huggins a minister in Cleveland, and Eugene (Kathy) Huggins great grandson Brian Elton Huggins. Burial records from the Perry County Library “Find A Grave” indicate that Elton Thompson is buried next to His wife Winnie in marked graves at (Lick Branch) Town Mountain Cemetery in Hazard, Ky.
