As a journalist and talk host the most common regret I hear when discussing genealogy is: “I wish I’d asked my mother/father, grandparents, cousins aunts, and uncles more about their lives.” That is why I was compelled to create and support this website on May 11th, 2011, documenting our family legacy on social media. Over the years since our last reunion babies were born, marriages created and dissolved, healings from surgeries took place, high school, college, and law school graduations were celebrated, some new homes are now nursing facilities and funerals have been numerous. We hug, cry, and break bread at the repass and promise to stay in touch. But, soon life becomes routine and we forget , until the next funeral. Especially during the 2020-2023 COVID-19 epidemic, and the” Biennial Combs Family Reunions” stopped.
The Combs Family celebrated with a 2024 Christmas Gathering which stimulated the need for our younger cousins to organize a Christmas Party. Shout out to: Kelly Hughes and former Reunion President and Co-President Meredith Rene {Fox), Melissa Cantrel and their parents who supported the celebration. We had lots of fun, which the photos will show.
I have faith that the Combs Family Reunions are going to be regenerated by our Gen Z, Millennial, and Gen X family members.
