Lionel Lloyd Combs Jr., age 68, of Dayton, Ohio departed this life on Thursday January 23, 2025. Born May 18, 1956, in Hazard Kentucky, he moved to Dayton with his mother and father.
Affectionately referred to as Lloyd his entire life, he was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio. Lloyd attended school in the Jefferson Township school district, where he graduated from high school in May of 1974. After working for a while and briefly attending Sinclair Community College, he decided on a different path, and joined the United States Army. He enlisted and served 3 plus years in the Army and hoped to become a helicopter pilot. Ultimately, he ended up in the communications field. Before completing his first 4-year term of service, Lloyd suffered a medical injury and was honorably discharged. From that point on, he devoted his life to family and friends. He married Debra Cook soon after discharge from the Army and from that union was born Lionel L. Combs III. Over the course of time, Lloyd gave his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lionel L. Combs Sr. (July 2013) and Hilda P. Combs (April 2002).
He is survived by his son, Lionel L. Combs III (Trace); grandson, Lionel L. Combs IV (Quatro); former wife, Debra Cook, all residing in Dayton, Ohio; sister, Jacqueline Combs – Minor and brother-in-law Marlon Minor of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Darrell D. Combs and sister-in-law Barbara H. Combs; nephew, Jason A. Combs and niece, Breann A. Combs of Douglasville, Georgia.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. May he be at peace now, and his soul be at rest.
Funeral service 12 pm Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 12 pm. Family will receive friends 11 am- 12 pm. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
