On Friday evening, May 29, 2020, at 7:40 p.m., Anthony Ray Walker of Temple Hills, Maryland, quietly and peacefully slipped away from us and entered into eternal rest in the presence of the Lord. Anthony Walker was a dedicated father, son, brother, cousin, and friend. He loved his family dearly.
Anthony Walker was born on July 6, 1961 in Washington, DC. He was the son of the late Harrison K. Walker Sr. and the late Monica L. (Combs) Walker. Anthony graduated from Ballou Senior High School in Washington, DC; he attended Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD for 2 years. In addition he attended a Georgetown Technical School in Washington, DC and was certified as a Phlebotomy Technician . Anthony became a DC cab driver for several years in Washington, DC. When family and friends would visit the DMV area, Anthony was the go to person to show them around the city. He then moved to Hazard, Kentucky where he worked as a delivery driver for Papa John’s for many years and he also became a blood transporter, delivering blood from Hazard to Lexington, Kentucky. Anthony was a people person. He enjoyed entertaining and making people laugh with his jokes. His laugh was so distinctive, just hearing it would make you laugh too. Anthony was known to be the life of the party. He was outdoor sports man who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also loved cooking and was known for his famous ribs . Anthony often called himself the ‘Grill Master’.
Anthony Ray Walker was preceded in death by his father Harrison K. Walker Sr.: mother Monica L. (Combs) Walker: grandparents Carl Walker Sr. & Mage Walker and John W. Combs Sr. & Mary F. (Brown) Combs; and (5 uncles): Carl Jr., Taylor, Raymond, Russell Walker, and John W. Combs Jr. (Boonie). He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his brother Harrison K. Walker Jr. (Michelle) Clinton, MD.: (1) son Isaiah Love (Manchester, KY): (2) daughters Annessa Davidson (Pound Virginia) and Monica Juliet Walker (Temple Hills, MD): (4) aunts Irene Walker (Washington, DC), Josephine Primous (Howard) (Palm Beach Gardens, FL), Mary E. Walker and Lenora M. Combs both of Lexington, KY:(2) uncles Byron F. Combs (Louisville, Ky.) and Victor Combs (Dorothy) (Conroe, TX): (1) god brother Len Everest and (1) god sister Ingrid Gavins. A special friend Eugenia Robinson (Washington, DC) and (2) cousins who were like brothers to Anthony, Phillip Higgins (Stephanie) (Accokeek, MD), and Jarvis Hagans (Temple Hills, MD). Anthony loved and cherished all of his cousins, friends and other relatives. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
