After discharge from the military Craig made his home in Sacramento/San Jose California where met and married his wife Jacqueline Poore. He worked at Kaiser Hospital as an Inhabitation Therapist, second Cook at U.C. Davis and American Baptist Church. Craig enjoyed camping and fishing with his son, Larry. He insists he was a “collector” and not a “hoarder” of Classical Jazz music, guns, knives and tools. He was an avid “shade tree mechanic”. In 1990 Craig returned to Dayton where he continued to work in the food service industry until his illness.
One of the biggest dilemmas Craig faced was when or if he would be saved. He often said,” .. when I get ready I’ll let you know”. The final phase of God’s transformation for Craig took place during the weeks of daily visitation with VA Chaplin Kenneth Boyd who led him to Christ. During a recent visit with Craig, his sister Edna whispered, “You know you’re never too bad for Jesus…Are you ready?” He smiled and whispered, “It’s already done.
Day is done, gone the sun, from the lake, from the hill, from the sky. All is well. Safely rest. God is nigh. — "Taps"
