She was a precious child, curious, full of adventure and always up for a good debate. Shelia attended grade school at Whittier Elementary and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High school in 1974, she majored in Communications at Central State University. In 1984, she began a stellar 20-year career with the United States Government. Serving in administration for; DESCI-Dayton ,OH, Nuclear Reactor Logistics Support Depot-Mechanicsburg, PA, Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg, PA, MWR Supply Branch, Washington D.C. . After becoming ill in 2004, she retired from the Social Security Administration Judicial Branch in Dayton. She was also very active in B.I.G. Black in Government and served as the Dayton Chapter President.
In the 80’s while working at DESCI near Wright Patterson AFB she met and fell in love with a young Airman, Clinton Wiley Moore. They married March 7th 1981, and began their life as a military family traveling from the east to west coast. While in Mechanicsburg, PA, The Moore Family began their walk with The Lord. As they moved across the country, the Moore’s continued their fellowship with several congregations. In recent years Sheila joined her siblings and made Wayman AME Chapel her church home.
Sheila’s ambitious, sometimes mischievous, charming, and warm spirit will be missed. It’s for sure “the essence” of Sheila will remain, because she instilled in her daughters, her creative flare, warm spirit, honor for God, education, family and friends. She also taught them the art of shopping. In fact Shayla says, “it is because of my Mom that QVC and HSN are in business today”.
